Where are your facilities located?

Our facilities are located in Texas. For a complete listing of our locations please visit our self storage locations page. Do you offer units with drive-up access? Yes. These units have a roll-up garage-style door and are accessible directly from a driveway. Drive-up access allows easy loading and unloading of large, heavy items.

What is the difference between an interior and an exterior unit?

Interior units are protected from the elements and have wide hallways. They are usually climate-controlled. In multi-story facilities, you will generally use elevators to access these units.

What is a roll-up door?

A roll-up door is like a garage door; it rolls up overhead for easy access.

How do I determine what size storage unit I need?

If you’re not sure how much space you’ll need check our convenient self storage size guide. Not only will this tool show you how much space you need, but it will give you a visual as to how to organize and maximize your space.

Are certain items prohibited in storage units?

Yes. Anything that could increase the risk of damage to your goods or the goods of others is prohibited. 

  • Plants
  • Firearms, ammunition, guns, or explosives
  • Food and pet food
  • Flammables, explosives, radioactive materials
  • Lead paint, asbestos, urea-formaldehyde, petroleum products, or methane
  • Medical waste
  • Stolen goods
  • Cash (not covered by insurance)


Rental & Moving In

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations are not required but reserving in advance ensures that your unit will be ready when you arrive with your belongings.

How do I reserve a unit?

You can reserve by phone, email, online, or in person.

Do I have to sign a long-term lease?

No. You never have to make a long-term commitment with our flexible month-to-month leasing.

How do I reserve a moving truck?

You can call or stop by The Storage Place in your location to reserve a truck. Some of our locations offer a free truck on moving day. Call for details.

Do you have complimentary hand carts and dollies?

No, but we do have U-Haul carts and dollies for rent.

Can I cancel a reservation?

You may cancel or change a reservation at any time by phone, email, on our website or in person.

Payments

Do you have automatic payment options?

We do. You can sign up for autopay with our managers at move-in or at any point while you’re a customer with us. We will automatically deduct your monthly charges from a credit card, debit card, or bank account. If automatic payment isn’t for you, payment can be submitted manually every month by clicking “Pay Online” on our website.

What forms of payment do you accept?

What forms of payment do you accept? We accept all major debit or credit cards including MasterCard, Discover, Visa, and American Express. If you prefer to pay in person, we will accept cash.

What happens if I’m late with my payment?

If your payment is late, we grant every customer a 3-day grace period. Late fees will be charged on the 6th day past your due date. After the 3rd day past your due date, any account that is past due will be denied access to their unit until such time as the balance is brought current. Late fee amounts are specified in your rental agreement. To avoid the possibility of late fees and being locked out at the gate, we recommend signing up for autopay.

Security

What do you do to guarantee the safety of my belongings?

There is no self-storage facility that can guarantee the absolute safety of your belongings. However, our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art security features that deter crime. Our properties are fully fenced and equipped with 24-hour digital video monitoring, electronic gates, and keypad access. Our experienced staff is vigilant during office hours, and our facilities are clean and well-maintained.

What is Smart Unit monitoring?

StorageDefender's Smart Units keep you connected to your valuables with real-time text message alerts whenever there's activity in your storage unit, Best of all, no app, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi is needed - just straightforward notifications sent directly to your phone. Access

Can I designate specific people, other than myself, to have access to my storage unit?

You can restrict access to yourself, or you may designate specific people to have access to your unit. Anyone to whom you grant access will have their own access code or key fob.

What if I forget my access code?

Call during regular business hours for assistance regarding forgotten access codes or fobs. For your protection, we will request proof of identity.

Are access hours different than office hours?

During access hours you can use your gate code to access your storage unit. During office hours the property manager is available to assist you with your storage-related needs. If you need access outside of standard hours, the manager will make accommodations.
